Located in the heart of Amish country, Menno-Hof offers visitors accurate information about the faith and life of the Amish and Mennonites — part of a 500-year-old religious tradition embracing peace, simple living and Christian service. The center has a gift shop that features handmade items made by local Amish and Mennonites. Wooden bowls and plates, handwoven baskets, Amish dolls, handcrafted rocking chairs, and much more, showcase their fine skills.

If you decide to take the tour, you'll explore the Amish and Mennonite history and lifestyle through multimedia presentation and hands on displays. Follow the trail of a people searching for peace as you step into a 16th century courtyard where Anabaptism began, explore a dungeon where early Anabaptists were persecuted for their faith, and board a 17th century ship on a journey to America and freedom. Towards the end of the tour, visitors will learn about Mennonites and Amish in modern day Indiana, see and feel the destructive force of nature in the tornado theatre, and reflect in the calm of the meeting house.

We know what you're thinking about fruitcake. Forget it. You've never tasted fruitcakes like the tropical and chocolate flavored ones made by Deb Lee in Middlebury, Indiana. Really.

When Deb created her recipe in 1989 she made a dozen loaves to sell at a small crafts bazaar, all gobbled up in 45 minutes. Now from October through December she bakes her original recipe, plus two variations: tropical, with macadamia nuts, coconut, papaya and pineapple and chocolate, with walnuts, apricots, cranberries and raisins.

Fruitcakes in half-pound or 2-pound sizes are available by mail or at the Next Door Neighbor, a bakery-deli on the farm Deb tends with her husband, Gerald, that is open from 6am to 2pm Monday - Friday and 6am to 1pm on Saturdays.
