“A Shipshewanderland Christmas”

Most shops will be closing early on Dec. 24 & Dec 31.

Schedule of Events:

November 7- Luminaries will line the streets of Shipshewana to guide visitors all around the town.

November 7- Light Parade will begin at dusk (6:00 pm).   The parade will wander through downtown Shipshewana and end in front of the Blue Gate Restaurant.  Christmas carols will be sung by the crowd and lighting of the Christmas tree will take place. 

November 14 - Kids Day will begin at the Davis Mercantile at the Passport Station where every child will receive their passport to fun!  Children will proceed to the next merchant station and receive their official passport stamp, a gift, token or hands on activity.  Children who are participating in the passport may begin on Friday, November 13.

November 21 - Chocolate Day will bring in the chocoholics!  This year our special Shipshewana designed box of chocolates will contain 24 signature pieces.  You will begin your designer box at Aunt Millies in the Davis Mercantile.  There you will purchase your unfilled box and a list of stores to visit to fill your box to the brim.  You will also find a fun cake walk and create your own chocolate spoons don’t forget to wear brown it will be the color of the day.

November 21 - Make your own Mocha at Kitchen Cupboard in the Davis Mercantile!  We provide the spoon, gourmet melted chocolate and the coffee.  Dip, stir and Viola' only $2.00 

November 23 - Come see the 3rd Annual Gingerbread House display at Yoders Shopping Center.  The gingerbread houses will remain on display until January 2. Vote for your favorite house by dropping your loose change in designated buckets. 

December 1 - Wana Night Out, 2-8PM
Local store discounts and extended hours

December 5 - Walk through a Shipshewanderland Christmas Tree adventure. Trees will remain at the Hostetler Hudson Auto Museum until January 2.  Area merchants display their store - tree style.  As you wander through the trees you will step back in time and find a showcase of Hudson Automobiles. 

December 19 – Visit Santa at the Hudson Hostetler Auto Museum.

December 28-31- Shipshewana 2nd Annual Ice Festival begins. 

 Purchase your Ice Festival 2009 pin on line at www.shipshewana.com  to receive special discounts from Dec 28 to January 30.  With the Shipshewana Ice Festival Pin there is FREE entrance to the Chili tent and the Snowmobile Races.


 

Carvers will be around on Monday Dec 28 well into the evening carving individual ice blocks. Stores will be open until 8 pm.

 December 29 competition ice carving from 11-2 at the Davis Mercantile parking area. 

December 30 Snowmobile races and a “Chili tent” will be part of this years activities.
